Organizer Description
Hello, my name is Mahtorrie Wilkinson, and I have been in the education field for over 15 years, teaching in both public and private school systems. In addition to my teaching career, I have been tutoring students for just as long, providing personalized academic support to help them reach their full potential. Throughout my career, I have taught in various government schools and have gained a deep understanding of the academic challenges students face. While many students are academically capable, they often need additional reinforcement to excel. Through my tutoring, I have helped numerous students thrive, with some even earning prestigious leadership roles such as head boy, head girl, and deputy positions at their schools. Parents value my sessions because they give their children the academic support they need while allowing them to focus on their own daily responsibilities and careers. My passion for working with children began at a young age when I started teaching in private nursery schools. Parents recognized the strong bond I formed with their children and encouraged me to work with them over the summer, which led to the creation of Camp Pioneers. For the past 15 years, Camp Pioneers has grown into the largest and most well-loved camp in the Hamilton Parish area. Our camp blends academics with fun, ensuring that children continue learning while also engaging in exciting, hands-on activities. Every day, we go on exciting outings to places like FryDays Trampoline Park, bowling, swimming, the Aquarium, the movies, and local playgrounds—the list goes on! We believe in keeping children active, engaged, and enjoying every moment. Beyond tutoring and running my camp, I also offer childcare services, including after-hours and overnight care when needed. I take great pride in supporting families, especially those new to the island or those for whom English is not a first language. I work closely with students on their school projects and academic goals, ensuring that every child in my care finds success—whether immediately or over time. Working with children is my passion, and I am committed to helping them grow, learn, and thrive.
