My name is Lynette Colvin. Professionally I am a Registered Dental Hygienist, however I also have interest in Nutrition and the Culinary Arts. Approximately 15 years ago I created a business called N’Moderation. In its inception the focus was to prepare regular food in a healthier manner, as well as portion control. As time has progressed I started offering cooking classes to adults and children, mainly to teach how to make meals healthier. More recent my focus has been on the youth, as there are a lot of skills that can be achieved when participating in a cooking class.  We started with International Cooking for Kids online in 2020.   This class consists of cooking meals from four different countries (one country per month), usually in the beginning of the year.  The participants would receive a cooking kit with ingredients, an information sheet about the country and other goodies. Then we would meet on ZOOM to prepare the meal. In 2023 we will be on our 4th series. Now that things are easing with the pandemic, onsite classes are available at our centrally located kitchen;  with  the introduction of AIMCA (All in Moderation Culinary Academy). Unlike our traditional cooking classes, AIMCA has an in depth curriculum which makes it more professional and prestigious. Some of the skills learned are language development, math ability, reading skills, scientific concepts, life skills etc. AND the skill of cooking REAL food for better health in the years to come.
